Sarawak & Sabah

(9 Days/8 Nights)

Day 1:  Arrive Kuhing

     You will be met on arrival and transfer to Grand Margherita Hotel. In the afternoon we will see Astana (Brookes's Palace), Fort Margherita (Police Museum), Main Bazaar where early Chinese Traders have set up their typical 'Shop-houses', Oldest Chinese Temple where devotees pray for prosperity and the Sarawak Museum which holds some fascinating archaeological and natural history exhibits. This city with a romantic history has many treasures to be discovered. 2 night with breakfast.

Day 2:  Bako National Park

     Today we drive and take a boat to Bako National Park. This Park is made up of primary forest and there is a wide variety of flora and fauna to be seen. Insect eating plants and Umbrella palm can be found and 120 bird species have been recorded including black Hornbills. Animals include proboscis and silver leaf monkey, macaque, monitor lizard and wild boar. There are many mark trails we can follow to search for these animals. Lunch will be taken at the Park's Canteen before returning to Kuching in the late afternoon. (B/L)

Day 3:  Lemanak River

     This exciting day starts with a pleasant drive to Semenggoh Orangutan Centre. Walk through the scenic forest reserve to the feeding platform and see the orangutan swaying in the tree as they come down for feeding. Continue to travel by car and by native longboat along the Lemanak River and visit Nanga Ngemah Iban Longhouse. Many Longhouses here are set on iron posts and contain several family rooms. The community is ruled by a headman and a council of elders and most Ibans are simple ciltivators of hill rice and pepper vines. In the evening enjoy a jungle feast seated native style on mat-covered floor and native dances. 1 nights in the Longhouse with all meals. (B/L/D)

Day 4:  Lemanak River - Miri

     After breakfast try your hands on the blowpipe, a traditional hunting gear rarely in use nowadays. Thereafter travel down river and continue by road to Kuching Airport in time for an hour's flight to Miri. 2 night at ParkCity Everly Hotel with breakfast. (B/L)

Day 5: Niah Caves

     After a morning's drive we arrive at the Niah National Park. The caves are perhaps one of the great highlights of Borneo as the most important archaeological site in Asia where traces of human habitation  and relics dating back as far as perhaps 40,000 years. We visit the museum and have a 3 km plank path walk through the forest to reach the caves. The caves are also home to countless tiny swifts who build their nests high up the cliff using their own sticky saliva which becomes very hard. These are the source of the famous Chinese delicacy 'birds nest soup' (B/L)

Day 6: Kota Kinabalu

Today fly from Mulu to Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah. On arrival you will be transferred to Jesselton Hotel. Rest of the day is yours to explore the city. 3 night with breakfast.(B)

Day 7:  Kinabalu  Park             

    Drive 2 hours through paddy fields and Dusun villages over the ridges of the Crocker Range to Kinabalu National Park at 5,000 feet above sea level. Visit Education Center and Mountain Garden, home to an excellent showcase of the diverse plant life and flora. Take a guided nature walk in the cool surrounding forest beture returning to Kota Kinabalu. (B/L)

 

 

Day 8: Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre

     Fly early morning for an hour to Sandakan and by road to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Hike for 10 minutes on the wooden plankwalks to witness some of the activities of the Orangutans during the feeding time. After lunch proceed for a short city tour before returning by flight to Kota Kinabalu. (B/L)

 

 

Day 9: Kota Kinabalu - Airport

     At leisure until your departure transfer to airport. (B)

 

 

Price: Rm 2,800. per person

 

Includes: 8 nights hotel accommodation on twin sharing, Transfers & Tours as per itinerary, English speaking guide, Entrance fees and permits to the Park, Wildlife Centre and Iban Longhouse and Meals as denoted.

 

Excludes: Domestic flight ticket, Personal accident insurance and high season surcharge.
