The Turtle Island Park, lying some 40 km north of Sandakan and close to Philippine border, comprises of 3 islands - Selingan, Bakkungan and Gulisan. It covers an area of 1,740 hectares which include the surrounding coral reefs and sea. The Park is famous for its Green and Hawksbill Turtles which lay their eggs nightly on the beach of the island
Day 1: Selingan Turtle Island
Depart Sandakan jetty by speedboat for 45 minutes to Selingan Island. Check in at the chalet and the rest of the day is yours to explore the island, swim and snorkel. At night, proceed to the beach front to see the endangered green turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs, transferring of eggs to the hatchery and the release of baby turtles into the sea. Overnight in twin sharing room with common bath. (L/D)
Day 2: Sandakan
After breakfast, transfer by speed boat to Sandakan. (B)
