Description

Lemanak River Expedition

(3Days/2Nights)    

       Experience an ancient cultures that is fast disappearing and stay with the people who were once headhunters.  Share in their daily lives and activities and enjoy the beauty of the Lemanak River.  Accommodation is provided in the Longhouse with the local people giving you an opportunity to discuss and compare lifestyles, religions and political attitudes.  All meals are provided.

Day 1:  Kuching - Lemanak River

     Today we travel by car and by native longboat along the Lemanak River and visit Nanga Ngemah Iban Longhouse. Many Longhouses here are set on iron posts and contain several family rooms. The community is ruled by a headman and a council of elders and most Ibans are simple ciltivators of hill rice and pepper vines. In the evening enjoy a jungle feast and native dances. 2 nights in the 'ruai' of the Longhouse. Mattress, pillow, blanket bed sheet, towel and mosquito net will be provided.  (L/D)

Day 2:    Lemanak River

     After a jungle breakfast with the Ibans, join in the locals and try your hands on the 'blowpipe' a hunting gear rarely in used nowadays. Later we proceed for a 3 hours jungle trekking which gives you an opportunity to learn about some medicinal plants, edible fruits and leaves and the agricultural activities of the community. Enjoy a wonderful day having your backwoods style bamboo picnic lunch by the river where food are mainly cooked in bamboo. After lunch, travel down river for our return journey to the Longhouse for another night giving you opportunity to discuss and compare lifestyles, religions and their political attitudes. (B/L/D)

Day 3:   Lemanak River -  Kuching

      After breakfast, we bid farewell to this river community and travel down the river for our return journey to Kuching via the same route. Lunch will be provided en-route. We will arrive Kuching in the late afternoon. (B/L)

Includes:  Transfers & Tours as per itinerary with Englishing speaking guide, Entrance fees & Fullboard.

Note: Lightweight clothing, comfortable walking shoes, water bottle, sun hat, torch-light and insect spray are suggested.
